Welcome to the Association for the Destroyed Art Museum
In September 2008 a few persons met in Helsinki, Finland to found an association named "The Destroyed Art Museum"
Creative mania or even megalomania must have been present there, for the vision of the association is not in the least trivial.
The aim of the association is to create in the Internet a database, with pictures and texts, to give the reader an expanding idea of all things beautiful, the destiny of which has been to be destroyed as time has passed: in wars, in natural disasters, by mischief, in fires or just by the slowly dilapidating force of time.
At the moment we a collecting a slowly growing database and trying to find supporting members who share the association’s aims – private citizens as well as organizations. For further information about your possibility to participate in our activities can be found under the title “Become a member” [Jäseneksi].
In order to collect the database we welcome all possible help. Do you know a story about a destroyed work of art? Do you possibly have a photo of it? We appreciate all help from the general public. A work of art may be almost anything: a painting, a drawing, a graffiti, a book, a musical composition, an installation, a movie e.t.c.
If you have a photo of a destroyed work of art, tell us if you have the copyright to it or if the copyright has expired (more than 50 years old photos).
You can send material to the e-mail address: Do not forget to include your own name and address.
